Over the past weeks South Asian and Bollywood music lovers in U.S, Canada and the Caribbean have anxiously been awaiting the results for the best five performances by music artists as well as their choice of the best song released from July 2005 till July 2006.
The performers who have received the top five rankings have now been declared for the nominations for the Bollywood Music Awards 2006 to be held on Saturday, November 4th 2006 at the Mark. G. Etess arena in the Trump Taj Mahal Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where the winners will be declared. The Bollywood Music Awards were instituted with a vision that the people of Indian origin, living in North America and the Caribbean retain a warm and vibrant link with their motherland through the medium of movies and music.
Mr. Rajiv Dandona, Executive Vice-President of the Bollywood Group of Companies, through this event, envisages building a further bridge for cultural exchange to eliminate the geographical barriers and boundaries via media, events, and entertainment.
The Bollywood Music Awards 2006 will take place on Saturday November 4th 2006 at the Mark. G. Etess arena in the Trump Taj Mahal Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey from 8pm and will feature performances by not just one or two top singers, but fifteen leading playback singers from India, Pakistan, Caribbean, Bangladesh and the U.S.such as the “World’s King of Calypso”-Mighty Sparrow, Evergreen-Kumar Sanu, Hot-Sukhwinder Singh, Sufi singer-Kailash Kher, Melodious-Babul Supriyo, Bhangra Raja- Mika Singh, Sizzling Hot- Sophie, South India’s nightingale-Anooradha Sriram, Amir Jamal of Kaho Na Kaho fame, Indian Idol.
